Zoom-geiko Thanks!

Chris Brueckner

Dear all, thank you for the zoom access, we were glad and proud to attend it, we were on it during the first two hours, that was great, thanks again, aligato gezaimas, stay safe, Hervé

I had a great time participating in the Zoom Kangeiko (January 2021).  It was a wonderful opportunity to learn from many Senseis, each bringing their own perspectives.  We worked on improving our basics, thinking through new bunkai (how we might use moves in an actual self-defence scenario), and of course, my favorite, some fun katas.  Even without the pandemic, travelling for a Kangeiko would be difficult for me now, so I appreciate that I could attend from home, and still work out with people from various places in the country.

Thank you for helping to organize this Kangeiko.  I learned something new for each of you.  Thank you too for the Zoom screen photo.

Sincerely,

Montiel Rosenthal

Thank you to all who organized, instructed and participated on Saturday morning.  It was great to see everyone and train.  Some I haven’t seen in a very long time due to the COVID-19 restrictions.  I truly appreciated everything everyone did to put this event on.  Thank you especially to Shihan Shawna Lingo, Renshi Eric Ford, Senseis Bill DeGrezio, and Matt Coherd.  Hopefully, next year we can do the events live again.  Until then every stay safe and healthy.

Unfortunately COVID prevented a formal Kangeiko training, but Renshi Ford organized a ZOOM training session that coincided with our traditional winter training.  Perhaps Zoomgeiko would be an appropriate designation for this training session.  The four instructors-Renshi Ford, Shihan Lingo, Sensei DiGrezzio, and Sensei Cowherd-did a fantastic job with their instructional programs that seemingly came together like a work of art.  I enjoyed seeing fellow USCK members for the three hours we spent together training in budo.

Hello fellow Chito-ryu Karate Kai!

I want to personally thank you for sharing you time, spirit and energy this past Saturday, Jan. 30.

What an exciting turnout for such an untraditional seminar!  Many thanks to those who attended and special thanks to those who supported and facilitated the training.

Take care and see you soon!

Kodai to Shimai,

Konnichi wa!  Thank you very much to my Sempai for including me in this year's "Zoomgeiko", I was honored to have been asked.  A huge thank you to all who participated as well, it was very exciting!  I don't have the best eyesight, and couldn't really see which/how many karateka were on our screen.  I imagine, had I known at the time, how many participants we had, who they were, and where they hailed from, my nervousness would've gotten the best of me.  As it were, I didn't know until after that we had 25 participants, from KY, OH, WV, NC, NY, & France, but I was floored when I found out after!  What an amazing experience and event to be a part of!  Thank you all so much!  A memory was made that I'll treasure forever, for a multitude of reasons!  Take care of yourselves and each other, and I look forward to seeing you all in person very soon!

While it was unfortunate that the traditional U.S. Chito-kai Kangeiko couldn't occur, it was heartening to see a full Zoom gallery and know that the spirit of the event couldn't be broken. Thank you to Renshi Ford, Shihan Lingo, Sensei DiGrezio and Sensei Cowherd for carrying the torch.
